Why Water Quality Testing is Important

Water Sample Collection

After initial consultation, we provide you with guidance on how water samples should be collected from a sample point within your water system. This ensures a comprehensive and accurate evaluation of water quality.

Laboratory Water Analysis

All samples are analysed at an IANZ accredited Drinking Water laboratory with tests aligned to the official Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand. The tests cover a wide spectrum of potential contaminants, including heavy metals, microbial pathogens (bacteria and viruses), and chemical pollutants.

Water Report and Recommendations

Following analysis, the water testing results will be sent to you directly. Filtration Canterbury carefully reviews the findings and provides a comprehensive report and recommendations for water filtration solutions that are tailored to your water conditions.

How much does water testing cost?

Water testing in New Zealand varies depending on the type of analysis required. Filtration Canterbury's standard drinking water testing and water microbiology testing starts from $262, with costs varying depending on whether you need chemical analysis, metals, nitrates, or a full water quality testing panel.

How do you take water sample for testing?

To collect a water sample, use a sterile sample bottle supplied by your testing provider. Run the tap for several minutes to flush stagnant water, then carefully fill the bottle without touching the inside of the lid or container to avoid contamination. Seal the sample immediately, keep it cool and deliver it to the laboratory as soon as possible for accurate results.

Where can I get a water testing kit?
