Join our happy customers—experience clean, great-tasting water!
I contacted Filtration Canterbury after my wife had belly aches and our horses weren’t doing well—our bore water tested high in nitrates. The team investigated and created a plan to reduce them.
We installed an independent UV system and added extra 20-inch filters, and what a difference! Nitrate levels are now near zero, and the water tastes great. Plus, regular servicing keeps everything running smoothly.
All I can say is we’re thrilled with the product and service!
Tony, Rolleston
The water that we have in the Christchurch area that is in eyesight of the new stadium on filter changeover we discovered the amount of sediment in the bottom of the filter bowl and in the filters was unbelievable. Was getting a filter changed annually and have since seeing what my water is I have decided to change the filters over 12 months using a Methven filter housing. Highly recommended.

I asked the team how to remove the chlorine taste and odour from our home, and they provided great recommendations. My wife was also struggling with skin issues, using creams for a burning sensation and constant itching.
Skeptical at first, we tried the 20-inch Highbank unit, and to our surprise, it worked like magic! The odour disappeared, and my wife’s skin issues were gone. Amazing product!
Craig
We installed the Ultimate Titanium UV filtration system, and what a difference it made! The chlorine smell was awful, and it left my hair dry and stringy. Now, our water is fresh, and my skin feels so much better.
After nine months, we noticed a strange pump noise and found a blocked filter. Once replaced, everything ran smoothly again. Seeing the gunk in the old filters was shocking—so glad we weren’t drinking that!
Thanks for the great recommendation!
FAQ of Water Filters for your Home or Business
Before selecting a water filter, understanding the specific contaminants present in your water supply is crucial. (contaminent assesment)
Recognising the specific contaminants will aid in selecting a water filter that effectively addresses your water quality concerns.
Determining the flow rate of water in your household is essential. This helps in ensuring that the selected filter can provide a sufficient supply of clean water without compromising water pressure.
One of the primary advantages benfits of water filters is the significant improvement in water quality. By effectively removing impurities such as chlorine, suspended sediments, heavy metals, and harmful microorganisms, these filters ensure that the water we drink tastes better and is safer for our health.
This purification process not only improves flavor but also reduces the risk of waterborne diseases.
In addition to health benefits, using a water filter can lead to notable cost savings.
By filtering tap water, households can cut back on purchasing bottled water, which not only saves money but also helps reduce plastic waste, making a positive impact on the environment and your wallet.
Convenience is another key factor. Many water filtering systems can be installed directly at the point of use, such as kitchen sinks or refrigerator dispensers, providing immediate access to clean water for cooking and drinking.
Most advanced filtration systems come with additional features, such as remineralisation, ensuring that the water retains essential minerals for optimal health.
Water filters are not just practical; they are a vital investment in ensuring access to clean, safe water while promoting a healthier lifestyle for the family and protecting the environment and our planet.Â
Disadvantages of water filters are:
Initial Cost: The upfront cost of purchasing and installing a water filtration system can be high. This includes the cost of the filter unit and any necessary plumbing modifications
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is required to ensure the filter functions properly. This includes replacing cartridges and cleaning the system to prevent bacterial growth
Water Waste: Some filtration systems, particularly reverse osmosis systems, can waste a significant amount of water during the filtration process
Environmental Impact: The disposal of used filter cartridges can contribute to environmental waste. Additionally, the production and transportation of filters have a carbon footprint
Limited Contaminant Removal: Not all filters can remove every type of contaminant. For example, activated carbon filters are effective against chlorine and some organic compounds but may not remove heavy metals or microorganisms
Altered Mineral Content: Some filters may remove beneficial minerals from the water, potentially affecting its taste and nutritional value
Dependency: Relying solely on water filters can create a false sense of security, leading to neglect of other important water safety practices
Water filters last depending on the quality of the water and what is actually in the water.
It would be expected that a water filter will last approximately one year before a need to replace the filter. But no longer than a year as a bench mark before the filter needs to be changed.
The filter can be "spent" if there is a high loading of contaminates in the water and also the Micron rating of the filter. The lower the micron rating of the filter the more it will hold back in the water, therefore the the filter will block more quickly.
The main reason why you need to replace your water filter is that the filter will eventually become clogged with contaminants that the space for water to pass through becomes minimal.
As a result, flow rate will slow significantly into the household. Sometimes and from experience filters may need to be changed at more regular intervals. can be as early as 3 months if not sooner.
In water filters with the correct temperature and conditions and if left untreated either chemically or with Ultra Violet light bacteria can and will grow in water.
This is why it is important to have a regular maintenance plan to change the filters is the hygiene of the filters. Bacteria of all forms can grow in ideal situations and these bacteria are not limited to the following common forms of bacteria.
Coliform Bacteria: This group includes bacteria like Escherichia coli (E. coli), which is commonly found in the intestines of animals and humans.
The presence of E. coli in water often indicates contamination by faecal matter.
Heterotrophic Bacteria: These bacteria use organic substances in their environment to survive and reproduce.
While they are generally not harmful, high levels can indicate the potential for other harmful bacteria to develop.
Pseudomonas: This group includes bacteria that can cause infections, particularly in people with weakened immune systems.
They are commonly found in water and soil.Â
